Let’s be clear. Farooqui auditioned for Jeffer during the casting of ‘Manogami’. The three-minute audition, in which Jeffer was asked to just stare silently at his co-star. That’s it. And the maker is impressed by that video footage.
Sharing the video of the audition, Farooqui said, ‘This is Jeffer’s audition video. Here I let him do one of my favorite exercises. That is, without saying anything, without doing anything, looking at the fellow artist for three minutes and listening to him. Apparently, it may seem that it is such a difficult exercise! But in my short life experience, staying calm in front of the camera is the hardest thing in the world.’
According to Farooqui, ‘Only great actors can occupy the camera without doing anything in front of the camera. Poor performers always want to do something in front of the camera. Maybe want to say something, or want to move the hand, want to move the foot. Because he is concerned with his presence. He doesn’t get lost between the character and the moment. And when his co-star speaks the dialogue, most of the time he looks to listen but doesn’t listen! He stares and chants his own next dialoger’s cue!’
Farooqui said to Jeffer after watching his audition video, ‘You will do great. Let’s get the job done.’
Jeffer has changed his 14-year-old hairstyle for ‘Manogami’. The clothes also had to be changed. But out of love for the work, he did everything according to the director’s words. Jeffer said, ‘I couldn’t believe it at first when I heard that I would be acting opposite Chanchal Bhai in Farooqui Bhai’s movie. I get more tensed when Farooqui bhai tells me to change my hair style. I have had this same hairstyle for 14 years. Faruqi Bhai says to believe him. I just did everything as he said.’

It may be noted that ‘Manogami’ has been produced under OTT platform Charki’s ‘Ministry of Love’ project. This is the third movie of this project. Before this, two films named ‘Something Like An Autobiography’ and ‘Kachher Mansoor Duri Thuya’ were released. Nine more films will follow.
