VILLAHERMOSA, Tab. (apro).- The Electoral and Citizen Participation Institute of Tabasco (IEPCT) delivered, this Sunday, to Javier May Rodríguez the certificate of majority that accredits him as the next governor of the land of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
The former head of the National Tourism Fund (Fonatur) is the third Tabasco president to win under an acronym sponsored by López Obrador, who in 1988 started a political movement that 30 years later took him to the National Palace.
The Morenista Javier May obtained 80% of the total votes in last Sunday’s state election, obtaining more than 70 points above second place, thus becoming the most voted gubernatorial candidate of this century.
The former person in charge of the Mayan Train got a higher vote than Adán Augusto López Hernández in the 2018 elections, when López Obrador participated in the ballots as a presidential candidate, so in Tabasco there was a participation of 70 percent, the largest in the history, even 10 points above the turnout at the polls.
Six years ago, with AMLO on the ballot, Adán López captured 61% of the votes. Seven days ago, with a participation of 60 percent, May obtained 80 percent of the ballots and without Macuspana participating in the same election.
That is, May scored almost 20 points more than the former Secretary of the Interior. The first politician to win the Tabasco government with the support of the now president was Arturo Núñez Jiménez in 2012, under the acronym of the PRD, when López Obrador was a member of this party; In 2018 Adán López endorsed the victory for the López Obrador movement.
In her speech at the IEPCT facilities, May assured her victory “it is a resounding result that leaves no room for doubt: (that) the people decided to continue the transformation.” We, she pointed out, record our democratic responsibility and our deep gratitude to the people of Tabasco.
