Japanese scientists have developed a unique tool to fight cancer – 2024-07-09 15:08:01

A team of scientists from Tokyo University of Science has developed a unique method to turn rice bran into plant nanoparticles that can fight cancer.

Publika.az reports that the results of the study were published in the “Journal of Nanobiotechnology” (JNBT). Experiments on mice have shown that rice bran nanoparticles (rbNPs) stop the division of cancer cells, which leads to the programmed destruction of malignant tumors.

This is due to the action of γ-oryzanol and γ-tocotrienol, which are easily absorbed by cells and block their reproduction cycle. Rice bran nanoparticles have also been found to reduce certain proteins that promote cancer recurrence and spread of metastases.

In addition, scientists confirmed the anticancer properties of rbNP in animal models, where the growth of tumors and metastases was significantly suppressed without causing negative effects on healthy tissues.

Rice bran is a by-product of rice processing, generally not of high utility or commercial value. However, they contain several compounds known for their anticancer properties, such as γ-oryzanol and γ-tocotrienol.

Of course
