JAKARTA – The Jakarta Japan Club (JJC) Human Resources Development Study Committee reported that throughout 2023, Japanese companies in Indonesia will have absorbed thousands of interns, from university students to high school students.

Coordinator of the JJC Human Resources Development Study Committee, Akihisa Matsuda, said that throughout 2023, JJC member Japanese companies in Indonesia were recorded as accepting approximately 10,000 interns from around 1,600 Japanese companies in Indonesia.

“As a result, around 1,600 Japanese companies in Indonesia accepted 7,400-7,500 apprentices for job seekers and 3,600-3,700 apprentices from high school and university students,” explained Matsuda, in a written statement, Friday (15/3/2024).

He revealed that in Indonesia Japanese companies contribute to the Indonesian labor market as a whole, not only developing human resources for their own employees, but by utilizing an internship system for job seekers and internships that provide work experience to college and high school students.

The JCC Human Resources Development Study Committee hopes that this report will contribute to the dissemination of good practices in human resource development among JJC members, inspire the governments of Indonesia and Japan to create a better business environment, and help strengthen relations between the two countries.

This year, the report involved 259 Japanese companies as respondents, of which 201 companies were members of the JCC. Then, there were 1,569 companies that expanded to Indonesia.
