Japan supports Morocco’s efforts in the Sahara file

Japan expressed, on Friday, its appreciation for Morocco’s “serious and credible efforts” within the framework of the autonomy initiative to settle the Moroccan Sahara issue.

A statement from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that this position was expressed by the Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yoko Kamikawa, during her discussions in Tokyo with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita.

Based on Japan’s “steadfast” position, Ms. Kamikawa stopped at the Moroccan autonomy initiative, which was presented on April 11, 2007 to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, highlighting the “serious and credible” efforts of Morocco to advance the process of settling this issue (the Moroccan Sahara issue). .

For his part, Mr. Bourita, who is visiting Japan, noted the position expressed by Japan regarding the Moroccan Sahara issue.
