Actor – non-actor
George Lazenby was born on September 5, 1939 and worked as a model and car salesman before his acting career. When he was offered the role of James Bond, he had no acting experience which was unusual at the time. However, the film’s producers chose him because of his charisma, physical fitness and similarities to Sean Connery.
His only Bond, On Her Majesty’s Secret Servicereceived a mixed reception, although critics today rate the film more positively. However, after this film, Lazenby decided to leave the role of James Bond, partly due to conflicts with the producers and also because he believed that spy films were losing popularity. Which he was terribly wrong about. After his departure, there were an incredible 19 successful films with the secret agent 007!
Life after Bond
After Bond, Lazenby failed to achieve similar success in his acting career. He starred in several minor films and TV shows, but never regained the same fame. In recent years, he has focused more on business and occasionally appears in documentaries and at events associated with James Bond.
