The governor, Oswald Jaldoand the mayor of San Miguel de Tucuman, Rossana Chahlamet this morning at the Government House, after a week marked by the conflict with public passenger transport companies.
“The governor will support the decisions that the mayor makes regarding municipal urban lines,” said the provincial leader, who assured that the Province “will continue to contribute (through subsidies) to transportation as it has been doing until now.”
The governor made these statements after a meeting at the headquarters of the local Justicialist Party (PJ).
“(Chahla) is willing to talk with businessmen and defend jobs, but once she is in the municipality she will begin to make contact with each of the sectors of the public passenger service,” he said.
Before the press, Jaldo also said that the municipal leader had spoken to him about the trip to Germany and the agreements on energy and the environment that had been reached.
Chahla said: “The crisis in transport is national, provincial and municipal, and there are many actors involved, including business owners in the sector and workers from UTA (Unión Tranviarios Automotor).”
The official reiterated that the capital city is requesting “improvements in the frequency of service, clean units, activation of GPS to know the mobility and that the units are mechanically defective.”
He also confirmed that they sent to the City Council a draft ordinance to modify regulation 400, which allows “companies to participate in a bidding process, since until now they have a precarious tenure and that does not allow them to obtain credits from financial institutions to buy new units,” he indicated.
Faced with this latest obstacle expressed by the sector grouped in the Association of Motor Transport Companies of Tucumán (Aetat), Chahla reiterated: “We will be facilitators and we have arranged meetings with four financiers, such as the World Bank (WB), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the CFA (international financing entity) and Chinese financiers.”
