On a chilling night that marked a tragic outcome, the Attorney General’s Office has formally charged Julián Alberto Quintero Agudelo for the crimes of homicide and illegal possession of firearms for personal defense, both aggravated. This dramatic case involves the death of the renowned music producer Daniel Alejandro Velásquez Franco and his partner Astrid Sofía Riascos Valdez, which occurred on June 8 in a rural area of Envigado, Antioquia.
Quintero Agudelo, who served as butler at the artist’s residence, became the focus of the investigation after preliminary evidence indicated his possible involvement in the events. According to authorities reports, the fateful night began with a meeting in which liquor was consumed, triggering a heated exchange of words between Quintero and the victims, apparently for family reasons.
In a tragic twist, the alleged aggressor would have pulled out a firearm and shot Velásquez Franco, causing his death at the scene. Subsequently, he went to the room where Riascos Valdez was resting and carried out another attack with a firearm, also claiming the woman’s life. The crime scene was quickly secured by the CTI, where Quintero Agudelo handed over two pistols, one of which is suspected of being used in the double homicide.
