He was a role model for her since childhood, and later a great colleague and friend. Karel Gott in the last years of Iveta’s life, he was very interested in how she was doing and whether she wanted to help with anything. Probably at the end of 2013 and several times in the first months of 2014 Bartos in phone conversations, he offered to help her with mental health treatment – that is, with alcohol addiction.
“She kept telling me it was okay, that it would be fine. As a human being, I am very sorry, because I suspected, together with my colleagues, that something terrible could happen,” Gott said to Lightning then after several days of silence after Iveta’s death.
On the day the tragedy occurred, he only posted this statement on his Facebook page: “Dear supporters, it’s been a few minutes since I heard the terrible news. It’s a great human tragedy, so I’m dropping any memories of Iveta… Anything to say at this point is completely unnecessary.”
Fifty seconds
Only now is it clear why Gott surrounded himself with a wall of silence. He was the very last person Iveta spoke to before her death – at least in terms of a phone call. “During the investigation into the death of Ms. Bartošová, the last number she called was a phone number registered to Mr. Karel Gott,” a source from the Prague police, who did not want to be named, told Blesk.
The Bartoš house has a new owner! He forbade Rychtář to enter and exhume the dog! David Turk
“The call took place on April 29 at 10:15 and lasted about 50 seconds,” he added. What was the content of the phone call, about which the police later spoke to Gott, but he did not want to say. Did Iveta say goodbye? Or did she just want to hear her friend? Shortly after her union with the nightingale, she made her way to the dorms and ended her turbulent life forever.
The magistrate under suspicion
Bartošová’s husband at the time, Josef Rychtář (65) was briefly suspected of participating in her suicide. At that time, the supervising public prosecutor told Prima television.
No one was involved in the death
The singer left this world voluntarily 10 years ago. The police then announced after a four-month investigation that: “The available testimonies, the findings at the scene of the crime as well as the conclusions of the expert examinations unequivocally proved that on the fateful day Iveta Bartošová left her permanent residence alone, unaccompanied by another person, towards the pond and then to the railway line, where she lay down alone in front of the moving train set,” police spokeswoman Andrea Zoulová described to the media at the time.
Iveta Bartošová and Karel Gott were great friends.
