With unique surnames like these, coming up with a good name for your baby can be a real challenge.
Normally, for common surnames in Vietnam such as Nguyen, Tran, Phan, Vo… parents do not have to think too much to choose a name for their child. Just search on the internet, they will easily find dozens of suggestions for good and meaningful names. However, with rare surnames, naming a child will definitely require more effort from the parents.
For example, a Vbiz actress had difficulty naming her son when she married a man with the surname Xa, a rather unique surname in Vietnam. Le Hoang Minh Phuong (Phuong TiTi), a prominent hot girl of the Aviation Academy and also a familiar face in Vbiz thanks to activities such as acting in commercials, being an MC, participating in Sitcoms, and being a fashion model, had to go through a rather arduous process to find a name for her child.
Phuong TiTi is now the mother of two children. At the end of May, she officially welcomed her second son. On her personal page, Phuong TiTi’s latest post attracted attention with her rather “cumbersome” naming of her son. Accordingly, Phuong TiTi’s husband has a very rare surname, the full name is Xa Que Nguyen.
Sharing about the “half-laughing, half-crying” situation when naming her child, the mother of two shared: “Mom had a headache choosing a name for you for months, but dad made a mistake in the birth certificate for the older brother. Yes, now both of us are named Xa Duy Minh.” Because her husband wrote the wrong name on their son’s birth certificate, Phuong TiTi had to go online to “ask for help,” asking the online community to share their experiences in changing the name. Accordingly, the name the family planned to give their second son was Xa Duy Anh. So, the older brother is Duy Minh and the younger brother is Duy Anh.
Because of a small “incident”, both brothers are named Xa Duy Minh.
According to the name dictionary, “Duy” means unique, one-of-a-kind, unmatched, or expressed in “thinking, thinking, reasoning”. The “Duy” prefix expresses the desire for children to be unique, special, with sharp thinking and thoughtful, clear thinking. At the same time, “Duy” can also be understood as the desire for children to have a full, fulfilling and happy life.
According to the Sino-Vietnamese dictionary, the word “Minh” has many meanings, but the most common are “bright, bright, radiant”, “intelligent, clear-sighted, knowledgeable”, and “transparent, clear, fair”. The name Minh is often given to boys with the wish that the child will be intelligent, clear-sighted, knowledgeable, and have a bright, good life. In addition, the name Minh also expresses the wish that the child will become an upright, fair person, living according to morality.
The word “Anh”, in Sino-Vietnamese, means “talented person”, implying excellence, intelligence, and skill in many aspects. Therefore, the name “Anh” represents the parents’ good wishes that their children will become outstanding and successful.
Duy Minh and Duy Anh are both very meaningful names. When combined with the surname Xa, they are not only very suitable but also sound quite nice, creating very special and rare names for Phuong TiTi’s two sons. This proves that the young parents have spent a lot of time and effort choosing the most special names for their children.
