As a reminder, it revealed the M6 host Magicmaman the meaning of his daughter’s name in 2016.”My daughter’s father is Hungarian-Jewish. My father is from Burundi. We really wanted a name for our daughter that evoked both of our backgrounds. Something that wasn’t easy! And we found it. The name Alya which means in Swahili (therefore for my father’s origins) ‘the most fervent’, and in Hebrew, ‘the ascent towards God which involves the return to the promised land’. We didn’t choose this name for its meaning, because Alya is neither fervent nor pious (laughs). But we were very proud to have found a mix of our two origins“, explained Karine Le Marchand.
