It’s an honor for me to praise Kohli: Babar Azam

Pakistani cricket team captain Babar Azam says that it is a matter of pride for me to appreciate Virat Kohli.

In an interview given to Indian channel Star Sports in connection with the current Asia Cup, Babar Azam said, ‘It feels good when someone comments about you, like Virat Kohli commented about me. It makes me proud and it feels good.’

The Pakistani captain further said that ‘when you are praised, you gain confidence. During the 2019 World Cup I went to Virat Kohli so my aim was to learn from him as Virat Kohli was in his best form then and still is.’

Babar Azam said that ‘I asked him the questions I had at that time, and he answered me very well with explanation, which helped me a lot. It feels pretty good when you do something like that about each other.’

During the Asia Cup 2022 in August last year, Indian batsman Virat Kohli, talking about Babar Azam, said that ‘Babar Azam, the captain of the Pakistan team, is the best batsman in the world in all formats.’

Former Indian captain Virat Kohli praised Babar Azam and said, “From the first day of meeting, I saw respect and honor from Babar Azam and his attitude has not changed till date.”

Virat Kohli said that ‘Babar Azam has maintained consistency in his performance and it is always fun to watch him play.’

He said that he was first introduced to the Pakistani captain at the 2019 Cricket World Cup in Manchester and Imad Wasim said that ‘Babar Azam wants to meet you.’

Ever since Babar Azam became a part of the Pakistan team, looking at his batting abilities, cricket legends and fans consider him one of the best players of the current generation of cricketers.

Looking at Babar’s record-breaking innings and batting, his fans consider him a rival of Virat Kohli.

But there is no such rhetoric or competition between the two players and Virat Kohli and Babar Azam have been seen expressing good thoughts for each other on and off the field.

X (formerly Twitter) users have also given an interesting reaction to the statements of the two players about each other.

“These two always have good things to say about each other,” wrote a user named Meri Maroof. It is their fans who quarrel over trivial matters, otherwise both the players show mutual respect for each other.’

Bakht Sher wrote that ‘opponents of each other in the field, but friends of each other outside the field. It’s good to see two of the best cricketers in the world interacting with each other.’

Abdul Samad wrote in his post, showing the two people at odds, ‘however, fans of both are fighting each other.’
