Itaosy: A mentally ill woman sets fire to her house

On Wednesday, August 14, a fire caused panic in Ambavahaditokana-Itaosy and its surroundings. Around 9:30 p.m., a two-story house located in the Amboatavo neighborhood, in the aforementioned commune, caught fire. Knowing that this house serves as a shelter for a mentally ill person named Sylvie, local residents immediately mobilized to provide assistance while calling the Tsaralalàna fire station. This helped limit the damage. Around 9 a.m., the fires were brought under control. No loss of life or injuries were reported. According to local residents’ testimony, it was Sylvie herself who burned this house, whose owner was not present at the time of the incident. Information gathered at the scene revealed that this was the second time this house had caught fire. The first caused three deaths. Apprehended the same night, Sylvie was taken to the national police office in Itaosy for her safety. The question then arises about her relationship with the owners of this house.
