Israeli minister rejects Palestinian state plan – 2024-02-16 05:40:51

A top minister in Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s cabinet has rejected plans to establish a Palestinian state after the ongoing war in Gaza. On Thursday (February 15), Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smtrich said, we will not agree to such a plan to establish a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. British news agency Reuters reported this news.

The Israeli finance minister made this comment in response to a report by the American media Washington Post. The report claimed that Israel’s main ally, the United States, was working on a plan to create a Palestinian state.

Bezalel Smtrich said that the plan to establish a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital — which would reward the Palestinians who perpetrate brutal massacres against us — is something we will not accept in any way.

He said, the threat to the existence of the state of Israel is a Palestinian state. Which was proved on 7 October.

The Israeli minister said that he will demand a clear position on the Palestinian state at the security cabinet meeting on Thursday.

The Washington Post reported that the United States is working with Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Qatar. Israel wants to establish relations with these countries for a long time. Washington is working with countries to come up with a plan to establish a Palestinian state after the war.

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry said any political initiative without considering Palestine as a full member of the United Nations is bound to fail.
