Israel’s military forces are moving towards Rafah, the southern city of Gaza, to launch an operation against Hamas. A senior official of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed this information on Wednesday (April 24).

Meanwhile, various countries, including Egypt, have warned that humanitarian disasters may occur as a result of this operation. Various international organizations have also voiced the same warning. However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is not paying attention to that.

A spokesman for the Netanyahu government said Israel was moving ahead with a ‘ground operation’. However, he did not mention when this campaign will start and end.

The IDF official said that Israel’s Ministry of Defense has purchased 40,000 tents to evacuate and keep Palestinian civilians safe before launching an attack. Each of these tents can accommodate 10 to 12 people.

Videos circulating online showed rows of square white tents in the town of Khan Younis, about 5 kilometers from Rafah. However, it was not possible to verify the authenticity of this video, according to the British news agency Reuters.

But a Reuters review of images from the satellite company Maxar Technologies showed that the area where the rows of tents were seen in Khan Younis was empty even a few weeks ago.
