The Israeli Army confirmed that they intercepted more than 200 drones, ballistic and cruise missiles launched by Iran yesterday afternoon. The Army confirmed that there was only minor damage.

The attack was triggered after the bombing of the Iranian consulate in Syria, which occurred on April 1. “In response to numerous Israeli crimes, including the attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, and the assassination of several commanders and military advisors of our country in Syria, the aerospace force of the Revolutionary Guard has attacked certain targets in the occupied territories with the launch of dozens of missiles and drones,” the Iranian military body indicated in a statement collected by the state agency IRNA.

Through a statement, the Israeli Army spokesperson, Daniel Hagari, confirmed the Iranian maneuver and stated that it was a “serious and dangerous” escalation. “We are closely monitoring the killer drones sent by Iran and en route to Israel. We will try to prevent them from reaching Israeli territory, it is our task,” he reported.

The drones were scheduled to arrive in the territory around two in the morning. However, Hagarí stated that “the vast majority of the missiles were intercepted” and that some “caused minor damage to a military base in the south of the country.” He also reported that a girl was injured but he hopes she will recover favorably.

The official said that the country is prepared for different scenarios and that they trust in protection circles to defend themselves. “Together with our partners, the Israel Defense Forces are operating in full force to defend the State of Israel and the people of Israel. This is a mission that we are determined and willing to fulfill,” he assured.

“We have determined a clear principle: whoever harms us, we will harm him. We will defend ourselves against any threat and we will do so with common sense and determination,” he added.

Measurements

Israel announced that it would close airspace throughout the country. Meanwhile, airport authorities did not provide details on when flights will resume.

The army spokesperson also reported that all schools will be closed and gatherings of more than a thousand people will be limited from now until at least 11 p.m. Monday.
