Israel: Israeli army says Hamas cannot be defeated

Jerusalem Jerusalem: Israel’s top military spokesman said on Wednesday that Hamas cannot be eliminated, prompting the government to react quickly and say it is committed to the destruction of the Palestinian militant group. More than eight months of war that began with Hamas’ unprecedented attack on Israel on Oct. 7 has failed to drive the Islamist militants out of Gaza but has caused widespread devastation.

Rear Admiral Daniel Haughery “Saying we will make Hamas disappear is like pulling the wool over people’s eyes. If we don’t offer an alternative, we will end up with Hamas,” he told Israel’s Channel 13 broadcaster. “Hamas is an ideology, we cannot eliminate an ideology.
