Israel foils Hezbollah attack in central Israel

With 100 fighter jets, it destroys thousands of rocket launchers

He Israeli Army foiled an attack planned by the Hezbollah terrorist group against central Israel early yesterday morning, thanks to a series of preventive bombings carried out in the south of the Lebanon.

According to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF)the terrorist group, backed by Iranwas preparing a large-scale attack with projectiles and drones, which was prevented by the intervention of the Israeli Air Force.

During the preemptive strikes, the IDF reported that thousands of Hezbollah rocket launchers were destroyed, most of which were aimed at northern Israel, but some were aimed at the center of the country. In total, around 100 Israeli fighter jets took part in the operation to neutralize the threat.

Israeli military spokesman Nadav Shoshani said the rocket launchers were concentrated in some 40 launch sites across southern Lebanon.

Shoshani stressed that so far they have been detected “very little damage” in the north of the country.

The terrorist group Hezbollah issued a statement confirming the launch of more than 320 Katyusha rockets and a large number of drones towards Israel, as part of its “initial response” upon the death of its military commander Fuad Shukr.

The armed organization claimed to have attacked several Israeli positions, including military bases and platforms of the Iron Dome system, and warned that its military operations will take time to complete.

In response to the threat, the Israeli government declared a 48-hour state of emergency and warned its citizens of possible imminent missile and drone attacks.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari warned that Hezbollah was preparing a major attack from areas close to civilian homes in southern Lebanon, endangering residents in those areas.

Israel has maintained constant communication with USA during this escalation of tensions. The spokesman for the US National Security Council, Sean Savett, reaffirmed the “unwavering commitment” Washington’s commitment to defending Israel, and the Pentagon has indicated that it is ready to support its ally should the situation worsen.
