Animal sacrifice is the main activity of Eid-ul-Azha for those who can afford it. But the residents of the besieged Gaza Strip are not able to do that properly due to Israel’s obstruction. Gaza’s media office said on Saturday (June 15) that Israel’s ban on the entry of sacrificial animals is depriving hundreds of thousands of Gazan families of the opportunity to celebrate Eid al-Adha and offer sacrifices as part of Islamic religious practices.

In a statement, Gaza authorities said the occupation forces had committed a new crime. They have blocked the entry of sacrificial animals by closing all crossings in the Gaza Strip, including seizing and closing the Rafah border crossing.

Gaza’s media office described it as a “flagrant violation of human rights and a complete disregard for humanitarian and Islamic values”.

More than 37,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in Israel’s barbaric attacks on Gaza since October last year. More than 85,000 people were injured.

Millions of people in Gaza are suffering from severe shortages of food, clean water and medicine due to the eight-month-long Israeli offensive.

In addition to humans, many cattle have lost their lives in the Israeli attack. Many died of starvation. As a result, the price of sacrificial animals has increased several times this year. In this situation, preventing the entry of animals from outside has become a new crisis for Gazans.

Gaza’s media office blamed Israel and the US administration entirely for continuing ‘this crime against Islam and the Palestinian people’.

They stressed that the international community, out of moral and legal responsibility, must seriously intervene to stop the massacre in Gaza and stop this brutal violation of Muslim rights and human rights.
