Israel attacks Iran to ‘demonstrate offensive capability’

The air attack that Israel launched this Friday against Iran was intended to demonstrate to Tehran that the Israelis have the capacity to reach the center of the Persian country with their weapons, The Washington Post reported today.

The American newspaper assured that an official Israeli source confirmed the air attack that its Army carried out inside Iran, in retaliation for the Iranian bombing against Israel last Saturday.

The source, who did not want to be identified, saidor it had been determined whether the attack caused damage anywhere inside Iran.

However, he specified that the offensive was intended to demonstrate to Iran that Israel had the capacity to attack within the country.

Although several American media have confirmed the Israeli attackSo far, neither the Government of that country nor the Pentagon have officially recognized the operation.

Iran activated its defenses, stating only that explosions had occurred in the central city of Isfahan but that Iranian nuclear facilities were safe.

The Iranian Space Agency also denied a missile attack, contrary to information from the United States that Israel had launched projectiles against Iranian soil.

Amid the confusion about what is happening, the Iran’s aviation authorities initially suspended flights in at least three cities in the countryamong them Tehran and its international airport, although hours later they decided to open them again.
