Israel acquires 25 F-35 fighters for defense

The United States will facilitate the transfer of fighters to defend the Israeli State against the Palestinian terrorist threat

He Minister of Defense of Israel. Yoav Galanthas officially announced an agreement with USA for the purchase of a third squadron of F-35 fighters.

According to the Ministry, a US delegation has just signed a letter of agreement worth 3 billion dollarswhich includes 25 stealth fighter jets made by Lockheed Martin.

Delivery of the aircraft will begin in 2028, with a distribution of three to five aircraft per year, as announced by the ministry. This will raise the fleet of F-35i of the Israeli Air Force to 75 over the next few years. To date, Israel has received only 36 of the 50 F-35s it had initially ordered.

The agreement, valued at approximately $3 billion, will be financed through US military aid to Israel, as reported by the Ministry.

The signing of this agreement comes after a dispute that was almost resolved between Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Finance Minister Betzalel Smotrich over the acquisition. Smotrich had blocked the signing until a Knesset commission was established to examine the defense budget.
