Procrastination has become a habit. Sometimes this action we do without knowing has a serious impact on our lives.
But did you know that it can be a sign of illness?
Our forefathers said “don’t leave today’s work for tomorrow”, but today’s work is left for days and sometimes weeks.
Publika.az reports that one of the biggest problems of modern man is procrastination. This is an obstacle to both success and living life to the fullest. We do, but we don’t know exactly why. In fact, many are not even aware that they are struggling with this problem.
Psychiatrist Dr. Erman Shenturk said in his statement about “postponing things” that most people call this situation just laziness:
“However, it turned out that as the number of applicants with similar complaints increases, the situation is not as simple as thought. Lust has reached such a level that it is considered a disorder, but it is not yet defined as a direct disease in medicine. Usually, people unconsciously or consciously avoid doing something else, an action that needs to be done, one last time before sitting down to work. But frankly speaking, we cannot call this situation laziness.”
So why are we procrastinating?
“Why should I start something I can’t succeed at?” trust is only one of the reasons for deferring responsibilities.
Erman Shenturk lists the possible reasons as follows:
“There are many predictions about it. The most important of them is the lack of motivation. The reason is that the person does not have enough motivation to do the work that needs to be done and is not able to manage time well. People may choose to procrastinate when they think they can’t do it. Sometimes this behavior can become a habit. While some people may choose a more planned, more systematic way of working, some people choose this way because they think they can always do it at the last minute and be successful. It completely depends on a person’s work system.”
How to win by slowing down?
In fact, procrastination is a behavior that occurs throughout our lives. The reason we think of it as abnormal is that it is usually persistent and begins to affect every aspect of a person’s life. This behavior, which occurs in everyone, can become chronic in about 20 percent of people.
There are ways to solve the problem. You need to be aware of this. Regardless of age, profession, a person should accept that he has such a problem. Then it is necessary to mention one by one the factors that cause this, disrupt the concentration of a person, and cause slowing down. A significant proportion of chronically ill people who engage in social media and surf the Internet are observed. It is very important for a person to understand that the actions he takes to procrastinate are a waste of time and to limit them.
