Is Pakistan really going to get a better jet engine from Russia? –

Is Russia selling advanced jet engines to Pakistan? This question is now heated in the political and diplomatic arena of India. This is because the country’s main opposition party has claimed that the long-time ally Russia is going to provide modern engines for the JF-1 warship made in China, ignoring the request of New Delhi.

The Congress’s claim arises at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit India on December 5-7. But is something really going to happen?

On Saturday (October 8th), the Congress claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government should explain why India’s most reliable strategic ally, Russia, is now providing an advanced RD-1 MA engine for Pakistan’s JF-1 warship, ignoring India’s objections.

Joyram Ramesh X, head of the team’s communications department, wrote that the new engine and PL-1 missile will be used in the last block-1 version of the JF-1 aircraft, which is thought to be used against us during ‘Operation Sindur’. The chief of the Indian Air Force also said that JF-1 could be used in that operation in Pakistan.

Ramesh also wrote, Foreign Minister S. Although Jayashankar interfered in June 2021, the Russia-Pakistan engine agreement continued.

Ziaram Ramesh questioned why Russia had been our trusted partner for so long, why are they now providing military assistance to Pakistan, when India itself is buying S-8 missile system from Russia and discussing the Sure Stealth Fighter? It again proves that Modi’s ‘individual diplomacy’ is giving more importance to its image than the interests of the country.

The Congress further claimed that the Modi government had failed to alienate Pakistan internationally. The party says Pakistan’s army chief Marshal Asim Munir is now receiving warm hospitality and weapons from Vladimir Putin from Donald Trump. He is also getting full support for China.

Meanwhile, BJP leader Amit Malvia dismissed it as ‘part of the information war’ soon after the Congress raised the claim. He said there is no official source or credible evidence for such allegations. Within a short time, Russia also rejected the Congress’s claim, saying that the news of the supply of engine for Pakistan’s JF-7 aircraft was baseless, misleading and purposeful.

A Russian official told the media that there was no definitive information on such an agreement. It is not reasonable to start any major military cooperation with Pakistan during close relations of India-Russia. Someone is trying to destroy the relations of the two countries, especially before President Putin’s visit to India.

Why is the matter important for India

If Russia really supplies Pakistan to RD-1 MA engine, it will be a major hit in the strategic partnership of the half-century in New Delhi-Moscow. For the last five decades, the two countries have been working closely in defense. India has recently shown interest in buying new shipments of the S-7 missile system, which has proved the effectiveness of ‘Operation Sindur’.

If Russia really gives this engine to Pakistan, it will not just crack about India-Russia, Islamabad will provide a new weapon. At present, Pakistan’s arms imports have increased by 5 percent. Pakistan has made 5.7 percent of global weapons imports during the 2021-22022 period. About 5 percent of it came from China, which has increased from 5 percent of the year to 20-27.

Russian experts analyze different

Some defense analysts, however, say that even if Russia really supplies Pakistan to Pakistan, it may not cause India’s strategic harm.

Potar Tapichkanov, head of the South Asia Research Department at the Primakov Institute of Moscow, told Indian news agency PTI that the criticism was not fair. If Russia really offers an engine for JF-1 aircraft, it will benefit India. Because it will prove that China and Pakistan have not yet been able to create a Russian engine alternative.
