JAKARTA – Long hair styles are still the mainstay of most women. Apart from giving a feminine look, long hair can also be styled into various interesting styles.

However, there is one problem that is difficult to avoid when hair is long, namely hair loss. Moreover, many believe in the stigma that the longer the hair, the worse the hair loss will be.

This then makes some women reluctant to grow their hair long. So, is this stigma true? Or is it just a myth?

Reconstructive and Aesthetic Plastic Surgeon at The Clinic Beautylosophy dr. Nur Anindhawati said that whether the hair loss is severe or not is not actually influenced by the length of the hair. In fact, so far there has been no scientific research that proves the relationship between hair length and hair loss. So, it’s not necessarily true that the longer hair is, the easier it is to fall out.

However, there is one reason why long hair is prone to hair loss. This is because the hair roots have more energy because the hair grows longer. Moreover, for those who have hair that tends to be thick and unhealthy.

“So it’s not because it’s long or short. Hair is dead. Just for him to grow this long, it’s like he needs energy at this end. “So what lives is in the hair follicles, under the skin,” explained Dr. Anin at a press conference in the Cipete area, Jakarta, Thursday (20/6/2024).

“But for him to want to add, to add to that length, he needs a lot of energy, it seems,” he continued.

However, as long as the hair is healthy, Dr. Anin ensures that someone can have hair of whatever length they want without worrying about hair loss problems.

“So as long as he is healthy, he can be extended to any length. “But if it seems like it’s not good enough, automatically it’s only enough for a certain length,” he explained.

“So after that, here it shrinks, breaks, and so on, because the energy reaches the end,” he concluded.
