Refusing to join the Eurasian Economic Union is not profitable for Armenia, it is against its interests.
Publika.az reports that this was stated by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin in an interview with “RIA Novosti”.
According to Pankin, cooperation within the framework of the EU is effective for Armenia, in the last few years the country has seen the growth of GDP, investments in fixed capital, the volume of completed construction works, etc. has become a leader within the union according to such indicators.
“All these are mainly a single market within the union, free movement of labor resources, simplicity of the procedure for opening enterprises, preferential conditions for energy supply, etc. made possible thanks to Thus, in my opinion, from the economic point of view, joining the union is certainly beneficial for Yerevan, and refusing it would be against the interests of the country,” the diplomat said.
Pankin added that the priorities voiced by the Prime Minister of Armenia are consistent with general approaches in the field of integration building, and we are committed to productive cooperation.
Speaking at the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in early February, Pashinyan said that in 2023, Armenia’s trade turnover with EU countries increased by 39% compared to the previous year and amounted to approximately 7.8 billion dollars.
