The National Electoral Institute reported yesterday that, of the 226,661 applications to vote from abroad, received until last February, it detected irregularities in 39,724, which is why it determined the elimination of registration in the nominal list.
He detailed that the majority of the inconsistencies, 18,203, were in the signatures.
He specified that in the case of 12,574 compatriots it was due to non-compliance with the requirements; another 8,086 for multiple irregularities and 861 related to proof of address.
This Friday, Mexicans abroad denounced on social networks that the INE denied them their right to vote by not including them in the Nominal List of Voters Resident Abroad for the 2023-2024 Federal Electoral Process.
Most of the reports were from fellow citizens in the United States and Spain, who showed evidence of the emails that the INE sent them to notify them of the cancellation of their registration, despite the fact that the autonomous body previously confirmed the approval of their registration.
They uploaded photos of voter credentials processed in Mexico and then they took a photo of the signature from these digital copies and placed that photo on the paper as if that signature were the applicant’s handwriting. So it is obviously a forgery of a signature,” he pointed out days ago when he reported that he had detected several irregularities in the registry.
Given the accusations made on Friday, the Institute opened a virtual window so that they can request clarification, no later than May 5, and put their record in order towards the elections.
If you received a notification regarding your registration on the nominal list, you must request clarification from the Nominal List of the Electorate Abroad,” for this purpose he published on his official account on the social network X.
In addition, he specified the steps to follow.
Download the format available on the next page https://goo.su/gCECeUyou must fill it out, sign it, scan it and send it to the email [email protected],” he noted.
He referred to the documentation necessary to make the complaint and emphasized his “commitment to guarantee the right to vote of Mexicans residing abroad and to provide certainty to the electoral process through the reliability of the Nominal List of the Electorate in abroad”.
