Iran to sue Israel over attack on its diplomatic mission in Syria

TEHRAN: Mohammad Dehkan, Iran’s vice president for legal affairs, has said the country will file a lawsuit against Israel for the “deadly attack” on the Iranian Consulate in Syria. Dehkan made the comments while addressing reporters on the sidelines of a cabinet meeting in Tehran on Wednesday. He detailed Iran’s legal measures against Israel for the missile attack that destroyed the consulate building in the Syrian capital, Damascus. At least 14 deaths occurred in this attack.
Dehkan said the Israeli attack violated international law, Xinhua news agency quoted semi-official Fars news agency as saying. Iran is currently conducting a legal assessment and will soon provide information on its legal decisions.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights war monitor said Tuesday the death toll from the airstrike had risen to 14. These include eight Iranians, five Syrians and a member of Lebanon’s Hezbollah terrorist group. The Observatory said the death toll was likely to rise, given the number of seriously injured people.
