Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Iran to the United Nations Amir Saeed Iravani strongly condemned the US attacks and aggressions on the territories of Syria and Iraq, describing them as illegal and unjustified, and as violating the basic norms and principles of international law, the UN Charter, and the territorial integrity and sovereignty of these two countries.
In a speech during the Security Council meeting, Iravani referred to these attacks, saying: “The United States continues to play a destabilizing role in the region, continues to occupy Syrian lands, plunder Syrian property and resources, and supports separatists and terrorist groups. In addition, the Syrian people are facing economic problems and a humanitarian crisis as a result of the hostile and harmful actions carried out by the United States, in addition to imposing illegal sanctions. All these actions violate international laws, the UN Charter, and relevant Security Council resolutions.”
Iravani explained that the roots of the current situation in the region are the occupation, aggression, genocide and heinous crimes committed by the Israeli entity with the support of the United States against innocent Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank. The US military attacks against Islamic countries in the region are a continuation of this country’s complicity in the genocide of the Palestinians, through full support for the occupying entity and preventing any effective international action to hold it accountable. He stressed that the only solution to the conflict in the region is a ceasefire, ending the genocide in Gaza and ending the US military presence in Syria and Iraq.
Iravani also strongly condemned the joint military actions of the United States and Britain against Yemen, which constitute a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and international laws.
