The amount of the payment was revealed in newly disclosed court documents from the US government’s ongoing antitrust lawsuit against Google.
For years, Google has paid Apple billions of dollars each year to be pre-selected as the default search option in the Safari web browser on Apple devices. However, the two tech companies kept the exact payment figures secret until these court documents were revealed.
Bloomberg reported that the $20 billion that Google paid to Apple in 2022 amounts to more than $1 billion per month, citing testimony from Apple’s Senior Vice President of Services, Eddy Cue. In 2021, the deal amount is said to be around $15 million.
– The mold of the iPhone 16 Series reveals something special
The pattern of the iPhone 16 series shows that they have only slightly changed compared to their predecessors.
According to schedule, the iPhone 16 series will be officially announced in September. Rumors show that they will have a new 3nm chip and Artificial Intelligence – AI capabilities. At the same time, some versions will have larger screens, new ultra-wide cameras and larger batteries.
Recently, the model image for the iPhone 16 series was posted by the website ShopSystem (France). This image shows that the new iPhone line will have a slight change – MagSafe.
Introduced with the iPhone 12, MagSafe is a magnetic technology created by Apple that places a series of magnets around the iPhone’s charging coil. This technology allows for wireless charging of iPhones and attachment of accessories such as wallet cases to the phone.
According to newly leaked photos, the charging ring on iPhone 16 will be thinner. ShopSystem believes that this change may make older MagSafe and Qi2 chargers incompatible with the new iPhone. On the other hand, 9to5Mac sources say that is unlikely to happen.
On the other hand, reducing the thickness will improve charging technology and reduce the weight of the phone.
These images are also consistent with many previous rumors that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will have a vertical rear camera layout. This rearrangement of the layout will allow Apple to bring spatial video recording – currently only available on iPhone Pro models to standard iPhone models.
– Millions of users of old Galaxy phones begin to accept “artificial intelligence”
As of now, the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 series are receiving limited Galaxy AI features.
The changelogs for these phones only mention the Circle to Search feature as part of the One UI 6.1 update. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 will apparently get more AI features, including AI-generated wallpapers and AI-generated image editing.
These Galaxy AI features are implemented by Samsung through the One UI 6.1 update and play an important role in the Galaxy S24 experience. Samsung released One UI 6.1 with Android 14 and Galaxy AI for the Galaxy S23 series before rolling it out to the Galaxy S22 series. But the company isn’t done with everything yet as the update has been spotted rolling out to the Galaxy S21 series and some of the company’s previous generation foldable phones, specifically the Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3.
This update is currently rolling out to the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus and Galaxy S21 Ultra, however the Galaxy S21 FE is not included in this series. South Korea was the first region to receive the update, and it’s no surprise that the update will come to other markets. Thus, even the high-end Galaxy S smartphones of 2021 will attend Samsung’s AI party.
