Karate practitioners update themselves during the international Gasshuku, hosted by Shihan Daniel Lautier, thus marking the relaunch of the activities of the Madagascar Japan Karate Association (MJKA). More than 400 karatekas of all ages, from different leagues, participated in the first day of the event, which was held on Friday at ANS Ampefiloha. The last international internship of this type took place in 2019.
For many participants, it was the first opportunity to listen to the French expert, 7th dan. Although he is 74 years old, Daniel Lautier remains in great shape and always keeps up to date with the latest technical developments. He always expresses great joy in sharing his experiences with Malagasy karatekas, as if it were the first time.
During these two days, the trainees learned the latest kihon, kata and kumite techniques, as well as recent updates from the JKA globally. Instructor training was also part of the program. The president of the Malagasy Karate Federation was present and officially opened the course. This international Gasshuku is part of the 35th anniversary of the MJKA. Its president, Rajaonarison Andriamiarinarivo, can be proud of the successes accumulated over the years. “This is the first gathering of all MJKA karatekas after a break due to the pandemic. These years have seen an increase in membership, with now 150 clubs spread across Madagascar. We have the largest number of karatekas in the national team », explained the president.
