The program was organized by the Rangamati Forest Department on Thursday (March 21) morning through a rally and plantation. Later, a discussion meeting was held in the conference room of the Conservator of Forests, Rangamati Region.

Divisional Forest Officer Dr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Forest Conservator of Rangamati forest region, was present as the chief guest under the chairmanship of Zahidur Rahman Mia.

Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Divisional Forest Officer of Chittagong Hill Tracts North Forest Division was present as a special guest. Divisional Forest Officer Sohel Rana delivered the welcome address.

Speakers in the meeting said that the day is mainly celebrated to make people understand the importance of trees. This includes plantations. Forests play an important role in protecting against climate change. If there are trees, the environment will be safe. So everyone should plant more trees from their respective places for the sake of future generations.

The UN General Assembly held in 2012 declared March 21 as the International Day of Forests for the sake of forest and forest land security. Since then the day has been celebrated all over the world.
