International Bicycle Day convenes activities to promote its use –

Healthy recreational activities aimed at citizens – prioritizing their health and promoting environmental awareness – will be carried out in the Loja city when International Bicycle Day is celebrated on June 3.

Luis Curipoma, coordinator of Safety and Road Education of the Municipality of Loja; Valeria Cabrera, outstanding athlete and provincial champion in the delegation of the Loja Sports Federation; Alexandra Silva, representative of the cyclist groups; Ernesto Veintimilla, cyclist and owner of La Catalina; and, Fredy Castillo, representative of Unidos por la Vida; They made the activations known to the public to highlight the use of the “steel horse”—not only in sport but also in mobilization—, also recommending the use of helmets for bicycle users.

On Sunday, June 2, 2024, at 9:00 a.m., there will be a rally at the Jipiro recreational park, and—in the train sector—at 9:30 a.m. they will begin a cycle ride until they reach the Plaza de San Sebastián; then, at 10:30 a.m., they will award the best decorated bicycle; They will hold a BMX Racing exhibition, a walk bike competition, a punctuality award and a classic bicycle competition.

On Monday, June 3, 10:00 a.m., discussion “Roll more, bike more in Loja,” with topics about International Bicycle Day, sustainable mobility, mobility projects, and presentation of recognition to the organizing groups. All activities are open to the general public. (D)
