Christian Cueva’s post on social media

The Intercontext Center responded to a post that Christian Cueva shared on his Instagram stories. In this post, the footballer showed an alleged “psychological report” signed by psychologist Mauricio Murcia. Murcia diagnosed him with chronic depression, accompanied by symptoms such as emotional instability, sleep disorders, alcohol consumption and problems with his partner.

Cueva decided to make this document public after issuing a statement in which he responded to allegations of physical and psychological abuse by his wife, Pamela Lopez. Although he apologized for his actions, Cueva did not take responsibility for the accusations, which describe him as an “abuser.”

Christian Cueva’s reaction to the allegations

In his statement, Cueva said he planned to make his medical records public and undergo all the necessary tests to clarify the situation. He said he was not doing so to exonerate himself, but to show that his problems are deeper than they seem.

“Today I want to open my medical records and submit to all the tests available. I do this not with the aim of being exonerated of guilt, but simply to show that the situation is more complex than it seems and that, even if one does not want it, sometimes internal problems win. I insist that I do not shirk my responsibility, but, once again, I beg that the lifeline that football is for me is not taken away from me,” Cueva said in his statement.
