Inter-Quran courses football tournament in the Gulf has ended

The football tournament between Quran courses, which was held for the third time this year in the Gulf, has ended. Yavuz Sultan Selim Mosque Quran Course students became champions.

The third of the summer Quran courses football tournament, which has become a tradition with the cooperation of Körfez Municipality and Körfez District Mufti’s Office, was completed with a cup and medal ceremony. The teams consisting of students who go to the Quran courses of neighborhood and village mosques in the summer period played matches in two groups for 2 weeks. 14 summer Quran course teams in Körfez district and 200 students competed in the tournament.

The tournament was played at Yarımca Alparslan Türkeş Sports Complex Artificial Turf and the closing day featured 3rd and 4th place matches and championship matches. In the last day matches, Sevindikli Mahallesi Mosque Quran Course defeated Yavuz Mosque Quran Course 3-2 to become third, while Yavuz Mosque became fourth. In the final, students from Yavuz Sultan Selim Mosque Quran Course defeated their ambitious opponents Bağdat Mosque Quran Course 5-1 to become champions. Bağdat Mosque became second.

The final match and cup ceremony was attended by Körfez Mayor Şener Söğüt, District Mufti Muhammed Aydın, Körfez Deputy Mayor Osman Yurt, Körfez Religious Officials Association President Tuncay Tural, former president Mustafa Bektaş, Branch Manager İsmail Yalçınlı, imams and Quran course teachers of district mosques. Mayor Söğüt presented the cup and medal to the champion team.

Körfez Mayor Şener Söğüt congratulated all the teams participating in the tournament at the cup ceremony and said, “With this tournament that we have now made traditional, our children who go to Quran courses in the summer season are having a full summer season. While learning useful religious information, they are also strengthening the bonds of friendship, camaraderie and brotherhood that are the basis of our religion and sports. This tournament both brings them closer together and allows them to do sports. I congratulate all the children and their teachers who participated in our tournament that was held in a gentlemanly atmosphere of friendship and brotherhood.
