Jorge More, the owner of Inter Miami, has assured that his club intends to sign between “three and five” players this summer to support Leo Messi, whose debut could potentially take place on July 21. More also revealed that he is working on expanding the capacity of the DRV PNK Stadium from 19,000 to 22,000 to meet the overwhelming demand for tickets.

“We have been preparing for Messi’s arrival in 2023 and have allowed for significant flexibility in our accounts. We will make more signings this summer, exceeding people’s expectations. While we don’t need to revolutionize the squad, I can confirm that we are potentially looking to make between three and five signings,” said More in an interview published by the Miami Herald.

Messi’s Lucrative MLS Contract

Messi, who recently announced his signing for Inter Miami after not renewing his contract with Paris Saint-Germain, is set to earn between 50 and 60 million dollars a year in the MLS. This figure excludes additional income generated through sponsorships with Adidas, the league’s jersey sponsor, and Apple TV, which broadcasts all MLS matches through the ‘MLS Season Pass’, according to sources close to the negotiations cited by the Florida newspaper.

Inter Miami, co-owned by David Beckham, also has plans to increase the capacity of the DRV PNK Stadium, which currently accommodates around 19,000 spectators. The stadium, located in Fort Lauderdale, just fifty kilometers from Miami, will undergo partial remodeling within the next four weeks to add approximately 3,000 more seats, as reported by More.

The news of Messi’s arrival has generated immense excitement in the city, causing ticket prices for all Inter Miami matches, both home and away, to skyrocket. “We will certainly enhance security measures. The players will enter the stadium on a bus, passing through a tunnel. All these protocols are already in place,” assured More.

Former Barcelona teammates Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba are among those who could potentially join the club in the United States.
