Instagram deleted two separate messages from the account of the President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş after access was reopened in Turkey.
Access to the social media platform Instagram was blocked on August 2 due to the policies it implemented within the scope of catalogue crimes. The access ban was lifted on August 13 after the organization accepted the decisions taken as a result of the talks.
Following the lifting of the access ban, two separate messages from the Instagram account of the President of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş were deleted yesterday. The Press Counselor of the Presidency of Religious Affairs Burak Orhan stated that one of the two deleted posts by Ali Erbaş was from the final declaration condemning the massacre in Palestine after the World Islamic Scholars Consultation Summit, and the other was from his speech criticizing Israeli terrorism at the meeting in Mecca. Regarding the two deleted posts, Orhan said, “The common point in both of the removed posts is the word Zionist. I think it is forbidden to say Zionist on Instagram. But defending the murderer Israel in any way is free.” The post by the Press Counselor of the Presidency of Religious Affairs Burak Orhan is as follows:
“Instagram has signed a new scandalous practice after access was reopened in Turkey. Two separate messages from the Instagram account of our President of Religious Affairs Prof. Dr. Ali Erbaş were deleted yesterday. The most interesting aspect of the scandal is that the post from the final declaration condemning the massacre in Palestine, which was announced to the public by our President at the International World Islamic Scholars Consultation Summit held 3 months ago, was deleted. Again, the post that included his speech criticizing Israeli terrorism at the international meeting held in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, was also deleted yesterday. The common point in both posts that were removed is the word Zionist. I guess it is forbidden to say Zionist on Instagram. But it is free to defend the murderer Israel in any way. Instagram’s removal of the posts will not be enough to hide the genocide of Zionist Israel against Palestinians, no matter what it does, it will definitely account for its crimes against humanity one day.” – ANKARA
