Kazakhstani track and field athlete Yelizaveta Matveyeva will compete in the Olympic Games for the first time, representing the country in the high jump competition in Paris. The athlete shared her experience of preparing for the most important competition, Liter.kz reports with reference to Olympic.kz.
Matveeva said that she came to the sport after Olga Rypakova’s victory at the Olympic Games in London in 2012.
“This is my first Olympics, and I am certainly happy to be a participant. Of course, I understand the level of competition, but I try to perceive it as normal in order to cope with my emotions,” she shared.
Elizaveta Matveeva noted that the path to the Olympic Games was not easy and the fight for points was often tense.
The athlete also spoke about her first coach, Lyudmila Peshko, with whom she has been training for 12 years.
“She is my second mother. Lyudmila Valentinovna always finds the right words of support, and I have no doubts left,” noted Elizaveta.
Speaking about the secrets of her successful season, Matveeva emphasized that there is no secret.
“I just grew to the level where I could be competitive on the world stage,” she added.
It should be noted that the Olympic women’s high jump competition will begin on August 2 with the qualifying rounds.
Earlier, 80 Kazakhstani Olympians went to Paris.
