INR provides 7,790 services on Peruvian Psychologist’s Day to children, young people and adults

During the first quarter of 2024, the National Rehabilitation Institute (INR) “Dra. Adriana Rebaza Flores” Peru-Japan Friendship carried out a total of 7,790 psychological care sessions aimed at children, young people and adultsas reported by the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

It was pointed out that On April 30, the Peruvian Psychologist’s Day is celebrated, date on which the fundamental work of these professionals in society is recognized. They offer emotional support, diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of mental and emotional challenges, thus contributing to well-being and mental health of people.

According to data provided by the INR Statistics and Information Technology Office, it is observed that of the total psychological care provided, which amount to 7,790, 53.53% were aimed at children in the age range of 0 to 11 years. On the other hand, 16.80% of the care corresponded to adolescents between 16 and 17 years oldMeanwhile he 8.78% went to young people between 18 and 29 years old. Furthermore, a 13.15% of the care was directed to adults between 30 and 59 years oldand finally, the 7.74% focused on older adults aged 60 and older.

It is also highlighted that the 63% of care was provided through the Comprehensive Health Insurance (SIS)while the remaining 37% corresponded to private patients with other types of health insurance.

Today, April 30, the National Rehabilitation Institute carried out a free psychological campaign from 8:00 am to 10:30 am, providing care and support to those who need it.

It seeks to promote the psychological well-being of people with disabilities and their families, taking into account the repercussions that the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the increase in cases of depression and anxiety disorders. This initiative aims to offer support and resources to face these challenges and promote mental health in the affected community.

“The campaign will allow greater awareness towards people who require help and normalize that going to the psychologist is important, to achieve a positive change in their way of perceiving and psychologically confronting what happens to them.””, commented Lina Rebatta Zavala, coordinator of Psychology at the INR.
