The “World of Tomorrow: Information Economy” program was organized by the Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (GSO) New Generation Industrialists Platform Economy Commission.
In the meeting held online with the participation of Economist Erkan Öz, GSO Board Member Bora Tezel, Deputy Secretary General M. Sermest Çapan, New Generation Industrialist Platform members and company representatives, topics such as the impact of the information economy on industry, production methods and cryptocurrencies were discussed in detail.
At the information meeting, the close relationship between information, technology and economy, the structural transformations provided by the information economy in all areas of economic activity from production to marketing, and the future of the cryptocurrency market, which has become increasingly popular in our country as well as in the world, were also discussed.
Giving a speech before the meeting, GSO Board Member Bora Tezel said that change and transformation processes are taking place in many areas both in the world and in Turkey, and that the information economy is an issue of great importance for the construction of the future in this respect. Stating that the transformation in production, industry and all areas of life is now viewed from a different perspective, Tezel said, “Today, everything is changing very quickly and gaining momentum. Issues that were not on the agenda yesterday appear as the most important topics of today and the future. Information economy, artificial intelligence.” Areas such as these are the best examples of this. I would like to thank Mr. Erkan Öz, our New Generation Industrialist Platform Economy Commission and all our participants for participating in our program and sharing their knowledge and opinions with us and our valued guests.”
Economist Erkan Öz, in his speech at the meeting, said that production methods have undergone constant change and transformation from ancient times to today, and that the importance of this issue will be felt more in the future.
“Money will change its form in the future as it did in the past,” said Öz, adding, “Digital currencies are an example of this. For example, the usage areas of crypto currencies are becoming widespread and increasing day by day depending on the developing technology. About 100 million people in the world now prefer crypto assets. They also use them in production.” “They see it as a unit of wealth, not as a tool,” he said.
Defining the information economy as “the organization of production with information,” Öz said, “For example, the Linux operating system is an example of this. A young programmer started to write the operating system without spending money with his coding knowledge. This operating system also spread over time. Where and how production takes place in the information economy.” 3D printers are developing in the industrial field. This means that printers can be used in materials such as plastic and metal. Today, the areas where the information economy will advance are as follows. We can list: 3D printers, industry, nanotechnology, robots, artificial intelligence, copying of human thoughts and consciousness. This is a long-term process. Like everything else, the defense industry will see significant developments. Production will also be made with 3D printers in the field. Additionally, there will be more need for energy with artificial intelligence. Because artificial intelligence consumes large amounts of energy. “I would like to thank Gaziantep Chamber of Industry New Generation Industry Platform and all participants for this important program that closely concerns our future, such as the knowledge economy,” he said.
