Industrial parks are at a standstill due to lack of investment

There are five industrial parks in La Laguna de Durango that have been halted due to a lack of investment in infrastructure for electric power, since the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) requires them to invest close to one million pesos per hectare, in addition to a substation.

Érick Escobedo García, director of Economic Development at Gómez Palacio, explained that since the start of this municipal administration, they have sought to promote the city and it was detected that many businessmen said they had an industrial park but in reality it was only a piece of land, so they remained in “good intentions”, since to be able to say that one has a space for housing industries, an investment per hectare in electricity is required and to have a substation, which costs 70 to 100 million pesos.

“There the Federal Commission stops you a little because companies want energy, if you don’t have the 100 million and they don’t want to invest it because there is nothing yet, So there we want to make a connection between companies that are dedicated to private electricity.with these people who have land but cannot invest, and who establish a commercial relationship with energy,” he explained.

In terms of the industrial housing that currently exists in the city, the official mentioned the Simsa park, where a new warehouse is already being built, there are subdivisions, and the development and investment that it has had can be seen. He pointed out that there is another project in the works that cannot yet be disclosed, also, another development at the level of La Encantada.

“There are five future parks that I hope to see grow, advance or be born. There are five that are stopped by the investment with the Federal Electricity Commission, which is quite high,” he said, “that is for the big leagues, which is not impossible, yes we are working on it and CFE gives you payment terms, financing.”

The director said that the aim is to accelerate these processes and that is why research has been carried out with private companies such as Iberdrola or Simsa, which also has an energy company, in which They can be brought together and have a negotiationso that when companies arrive at these industrial parks they buy energy from them and not from CFE.

For now, Escobedo García said that companies can already set up shop in the Simsa park, and that the expansions that have taken place are also viable, as are the 17 investments that Governor Esteban Villegas has announced for the Laguna region.
