Indonesia managed to win two gold medals in Paris 2024 Olympics placing the Red and White in 39th place in the overall medal standings. The Indonesian contingent also managed to finish above Thailand and Malaysia.

The 2024 Paris Olympics have officially closed, Sunday (11/8/2024) night or Monday (12/8/2024) early morning WIB. The United States emerged as the overall champion with 126 medals consisting of 40 gold, 44 silver, and 42 bronze.

Indonesia itself finished in 39th position with two gold medals and one bronze. For Indonesia, this is the best achievement in the history of participation in the Olympic event.

Indonesia’s two gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics were won by Veddriq Leonardo in men’s speed climbing and Rizki Juniansyah in men’s 73kg weightlifting. Meanwhile, Gregoria Mariska Tunjung won the bronze medal in women’s singles badminton.

The Philippines is ranked 37th with two golds and one silver, one silver ahead of Indonesia. Thailand is ranked 44th, with one gold, three silvers, and one bronze. Meanwhile, Malaysia is far behind in 80th position with a collection of 2 bronze medals.

Indonesia remains one of the most consistent ASEAN countries in medal tallies at the Olympics, despite increasingly fierce competition. Focusing on improving achievements in leading sports is a priority for the next Olympics.
