Indian Cricket Board (BCCI) Secretary Dev Jeet Sikia has rejected the news of his withdrawal from the Asia Cup as ‘rumors’.
Indian media reported on Monday that the Indian Cricket Board had decided not to participate in all Asian Cricket Council competitions at the moment.
However, BCCI Secretary Dev Jeet Sikia told news agency ANI that “this morning we have come to know about some reports claiming that the BCCI has decided not to participate in the Asia Cup and the Women’s Emerging Cup, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) events.”
“The BCCI has not made any dialogue with regard to the upcoming ACC events, and has not taken any action,” he said.

Earlier, Indian media reported the withdrawal of the BCCI, stating that the reason for the decision was that since the Asian Cricket Council is currently headed by the Home Minister of Pakistan, who is also the head of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Indian team will not participate in the council organized.
According to Indian media, sources say, “The purpose of staying away from the ACC events is to isolate Pakistan cricket.”
BCCI sources told the newspaper Indian Express that ‘the Indian team cannot play in a tournament that is organized by the ACC and headed by a Pakistani minister.
‘This is the spirit of the nation. We have verbally informed the ACC about our withdrawal from the upcoming Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup and is also suspended in his other events in the future. We are constantly in touch with the Indian government. ‘
According to the Indian Express, the BCCI’s position marked the question on the Men’s Asia Cup in India in September. The tournament includes India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, but now the event is currently likely to be backed up.
The newspaper reported that the BCCI is well aware that without India, the Asia Cup cannot be done because most of the sponsors of international cricket events belong to India.
In addition, the high -voltage competition between India and Pakistan is a great attraction to the Asia Cup, and without it the interest of broadcasters will be lost.
