India and Bangladesh promote a future vision to expand cooperation in the digital economy

India and Bangladesh on Saturday strengthened a future vision to expand cooperation in several new areas and signed a set of agreements, including strengthening relations in the maritime field and the “blue economy”, related to the exploitation and preservation of the marine environment.

The agreements were finalized in wide-ranging talks between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his visiting Bangladeshi counterpart, Sheikh Hasina, according to the Press Trust of India.

The main agreements signed by the two sides included one on establishing strong relations in the digital field and another on establishing a “green partnership.” The two sides also signed an agreement on railway connectivity.

“Today we have prepared a future vision for cooperation in new areas. The youth of both countries will benefit from the consensus reached on cooperation in areas such as green partnership, digital partnership, blue economy and space,” Modi said in a statement.

In her remarks, Sheikh Hasina described India as a major neighbor of Bangladesh and a trusted friend.

“India is our key neighbour, trusted friend and regional partner. Bangladesh highly values ​​our relations with India, which were born out of the Liberation War of 1971,” she added.

“We agreed to work together for the betterment of our people and our countries,” she said. The Bangladeshi prime minister began her two-day visit to India on Friday.
