József Ferenczik announced on Thursday evening that he is resigning from the mayoral candidacy and hopes that one day “we will see clean and democratic elections again in our country, cleansed of this tyrannical, ulcerous political elite that now rules this nation.”
He justified his decision by saying that, in his opinion, in the past period we witnessed the mockery of democratic principles and the violent exercise of power.
Our opponents in government are trying to gain power through lies and fraud and money, depriving honest and patriotic people of their right to participate in the governance of their own nation. These acts of corruption and anti-democratic actions not only threaten democracy but also undermine our people’s faith and trust in the state
– stated József Ferenczik, who says that the opposition will use all means to gain power, even if this means the destruction of democratic processes and values. He believes that they deny justice and equality while trying to protect and strengthen their own political power. “They are destroying the foundations of free elections and suppressing those who hold a different opinion, thus ensuring their own further power and control,” added the politician.
He also said that it is “not a democracy, but a brutal dictatorship that rules this country” and that he refuses to participate in a system where “selfish political elites override their own interests over the will of the people.”
