The Israeli army struck a Hezbollah base in the Rihan region of southern Lebanon in response to a volley of more than 40 rockets fired by the armed militia into northern Israel last night. According to the IDF, the attacked camp included several buildings and a military post, reports The Times of Israel.

The attack was preceded by the firing of more than 40 rockets by the Shiite armed organization supporting Hamas, Hezbollah, from southern Lebanon towards the Galilee in northern Israel on Friday. The United States can also intervene in the Middle East

As we reported, Israel expects a direct attack from Iran on the southern or northern part of the country. US and Israeli officials have been in contact over the past few days as they prepare for Tehran’s possible response to the April 1 airstrike in Damascus, the Israeli military reported.

Two Iranian generals and several other officers of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps were killed in an airstrike in Damascus that was attributed to Israel and hit the Iranian consulate building. According to Bloomberg, Iran may launch strikes with high-precision missiles and drones against Israeli military and government facilities after Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s supreme political and religious leader, repeated his threat to punish Israel. At the same time, US President Joe Biden stated that the United States will do everything to protect Israel’s security.

Meanwhile, US officials told CNN that they expect Iran to attack several targets in Israel and the region.

According to a high-ranking US government official speaking to CNN, the United States will play an important role in air defense and will help by intercepting the projectiles.

According to the article, the Americans primarily (but not exclusively) expect a direct attack from Iran: two of the officials said that Iran has recently put cruise missiles and drones on standby for a strike. According to one source, up to 100 cruise missiles could be fired if the attack begins.

Another announcement from the Israeli army: they also struck Gaza

Update: in the meantime, the IDF announced that pre-emptive strikes had also been carried out in the Gaza Strip. According to the announcement, the targets of the strikes were three rocket launchers, from which the extremist Islamists wanted to fire a total of 20 rockets against Israel.

According to The Times of Israel, just before the attack, three rockets were launched towards southern Israel, the action was carried out by the organization called Islamic Jihad. These rockets were intercepted by Israel’s air defense system, the Iron Dome, and Israeli artillery responded by bombarding the launch sites.

Clashes have continued in the Gaza Strip since the October 7 attack by Hamas that claimed the lives of around 1,200 Israelis. According to the Palestinian Health Authority, the Israeli army has since killed more than 33,000 people and wounded more than 76,000.
