Last weekend, the first information appeared that Péter Magyar might have acted aggressively towards his ex-wife, Justice Minister Judit Varga. Péter Magyar denied this in an interview on Tuesday, stating: “I have never hurt my wife, the mother of my children.”
In the meantime, Mandiner had previously spoken to a former employee of the Ministry of Justice, who said that Magyar had repeatedly tried to interfere in the operation of the ministry. Since then, two more sources have come forward to the paper, who said they were press workers of the ministry.
and even they were afraid of Péter Magyar.
In its article, Mandiner referred to the two journalists as Éva and Júlia. According to the paper, the sources said: the entire crew had a basic fear, because they knew that if something was messed up, Péter Magyar would hold Judito Varga accountable for it at home.
“I saw him cry more than once because of Peter”
Among them, Éva said that when she joined the ministry, her new colleagues immediately warned her that Judit Varga’s husband should be careful. “While I got to know Judith Varga as a consistent, yet humane leader who walks with two feet on the ground, I considered her ex-husband to be a person who lived an overbearing life, whose desire to act was constantly at work, his every move was aimed at being in the spotlight,” she declared. .
He also added that there was constant pressure from Péter Magyar on Judith Varga, and with that on the minister’s team as well. “Colleagues often felt uncomfortable because of Magyar. It also happened that he selected pictures of himself during an event and put pressure on the minister to post photos in which he thought he looked good,” said Éva, and then continued: as a direct colleague, they were present at many official events with the minister, where her husband was with her.
During such occasions, it often happened that, under the pressure of Péter Magyar, unfavorable pictures of the minister appeared, while favorable pictures of Magyar appeared. According to our source, the minister left these guerrilla actions because he wanted to spare himself and his staff from Péter Magyar’s hysteria, which was more than unpleasant for everyone.
I could see from the minister that she felt stressed by her husband’s behavior and felt it was easier to leave things to him to avoid more hysteria and further atrocities against her colleagues.
– said Éva, and then also touched on the fact that once a completely disorganized, official trip abroad had to be canceled at the last minute because of Péter Magyar (according to her, this happened shortly before Varga and Magyar decided to divorce).
By the way, at that time he worked with all his might in order to negotiate the justice package as soon as possible. During this period, therefore, a few hours of sleep, as well as a series of high-stakes interviews and discussions in foreign languages, were commonplace. My boss did all of this in such a state of mind that during the break between official programs I saw him cry more than once because of Péter
Eva said.
According to the other journalist, Péter Magyar colluded with them as well, defamed everyone
The other source, Júlia, reported similar experiences. According to his claim, it was apparent from the very first moment that Magyar presented a very different image of himself on the surface than he actually is.
You could see that he was trying very cleverly to sell himself to everyone he met
– he said, adding: he met Judit Varga in Brussels, but then he did not see how much pressure Magyar Varga was putting on him. He only encountered this when he joined the press department of the Ministry of Justice and worked with the minister on a daily basis.
According to his claim, everyone in the portfolio had a constant stomachache due to the fact that Péter Magyar was trying to interfere and have a say in many things (according to him, this also stemmed from the fact that Magyar could not digest that his wife was the minister, and not him). According to him, Péter Magyar has always had a boulevard, sensational streak, which he tried to push on his wife, and every day he wanted more and more “cheap likes” on Facebook.
“We felt this in our daily work, there was constant pressure coming from the Hungarian side,” Júlia added.
according to whom Péter Magyar repeatedly got into heated arguments with his ministry colleagues.
He had a constant expectation to be there at the various protocol events, preferably in the front row, so that he could look good in the pictures. He referred to the employees with unacceptable epithets, literally called them “morons”, and insulted the minister for not being able to arrange for him to sit in the same box with the prime minister at sporting events. It also happened that he commented on Judith Varga in front of his crew, on her appearance, appearance, and behavior, said the Mandiner source.
If something didn’t work out the way he imagined, it wasn’t a case of him trying to get the particular colleague to be fired through the minister, which the minister naturally didn’t allow. We had to create a working schedule for the minister so that he would not read Magyar’s messages before important appearances and negotiations, because they would have distracted him from his professional work and it would have been much more difficult for him to focus on it
he added.
In the end, he also said: “Péter Magyar constantly tried to maintain the appearance that everything is actually good and that the family idyll exists. There was a Christmas front-page tabloid photoshoot, in which I personally participated as a crew member, and we could see from the children that they were tense.”
Judith avoided crying during the photo shoot and tried to get over it as quickly as possible in such a way as to expose the children to as little stress as possible… Neither the minister nor the children wanted the bulvaros contents, Péter printed them on them. After that came what we know from the report already published in the press. We saw perfectly how he treated his family in reality
said Julia.
Péter Magyar sent a message to Viktor Orbán
Péter Magyar has not yet responded to the Mandiner article on his Facebook page, but he did send a message to the Prime Minister. As we wrote, Viktor Orbán gave an interview from the Belgian capital on Friday morning.
Among other things, the prime minister said in the interview: “It’s a strange feeling to come to Brussels from Hungary now. Hungary looks like a normal country, even if at home there are interludes reminiscent of Neighbors or Dallas or even Real World.”
In response to this, Péter Magyar wrote in his morning Facebook post:
For me, I prefer the Polyp series and the Godfather trilogy.
We also asked Péter Magyar by e-mail about the information provided by Mandiner’s sources. If you respond, we will report on that as well.
