The Government Information Center announced that Bertalan Havasi, the deputy state secretary in charge of the Prime Minister’s Press Office, is leaving his post. The news of the departure also reached Index earlier.
Press inquiries to the Prime Minister are handled by the Government Information Center. Information on Bertalan Havasi’s future duties will be provided later. Bertalan Havasi has held the position of press chief alongside the prime minister since 2015.
For fifteen years with Viktor Orbán
He is a lawyer by qualification, married and the father of three children. He completed his secondary school studies at the Lajos Nagy High School of the Cistercian Order in Pécs. In 2001, he obtained a law degree at the University of Pécs, and in 2004, a European specialist legal qualification. He worked as a correspondent for Magyar Nemzet and Duna Televízió in Pécs, as the press chief of the House of Terror Museum, and then became a newsreader and presenter of Hír TV.
Bertalan Havasi worked as Fidesz’s press chief from 2005 to 2010, and then from 2010 to 2015 as deputy state secretary in charge of the prime minister’s press staff. From 2019, he is also a member of the supervisory board of Hungary Helps Agency Nonprofit Zrt., i.e. Hungary’s humanitarian assistance and development program.
