The paramedics examined three kindergarteners, and in the end, two small children had to be taken to the hospital, and one boy survived the poisoning at home. By the next day, all the little children were better. The mayor announced on the settlement’s social media page that he was initiating disciplinary proceedings – RTL Híradó reported on the incident.
A legal, official, thorough procedure should reveal how, under what circumstances and who is responsible for the fact that a plant posing a health risk was found in the kindergarten’s yard
says the mayor’s post.
However, purple acacia is not on the National Public Health Center’s warning list of poisonous plants, but according to the toxicologist speaking to the news station, it can cause sickness in children, but it is not harmful.
The head of the kindergarten was not allowed to comment, but he told the channel in writing that the maintenance workers had removed the plant, together with all its fruits, from the garden. During the week, a gardener and a botanist will inspect the garden.
This is the second case of poisoning in the Pilisborosjenő institution within a few weeks, since in February five children had cleaning agents instead of powdered sugar in their breakfast.
