Inai orders the Presidency to reveal Commission reports on Ayotzinapa

The National Institute of Transparency and Access to Information (Inai) this Monday ordered the Legal Department of the Presidency of Mexico to search and reveal the reports of the Commission for Truth and Access to Justice in the Ayotzinapa Case.

Inai stated in a communication that this information, which includes videos, interviews, messages between key people, telephone communications, screenshots, conversations and questionnaires, among others, should be disseminated to the general public.

This, recalled Commissioner Norma Julieta del Río Venegas, It is part of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s commitment to clarify the events that occurred on September 26, 2014. in which 43 students from the Ayotzinapa rural normal school in Guerrero, a state in southern Mexico, disappeared.

The official of the autonomous organization stated that the social claim is still valid and will not stop until the truth of the facts is known and the damage to those affected is repaired and, therefore, it is important to open the information related to the case.

“These reports that are being requested are reports that have continually been made public, we have been informed about this case, the corresponding complaints have been made and they have been reported, so the information exists,” he stressed.

He further noted that This resolution occurs in response to the request made by a person who asked that the Legal Department present information about the casealthough the agency denied that there was a record or record of related information.

“When presenting its arguments, the Legal Department reiterated its initial response and indicated that it is not able to search the archives of the Presidency of the Republic, since it is a different obligated subject,” detailed the Inai.

However, when analyzing the case, the Inai determined that the agency did not comply with the search procedure established in the Federal Transparency Law, “because it did not consult all the competent administrative units.”

And he explained that, although the Legal Department is not responsible for issuing the reports, it can know the information, especially because it is immersed in the procedures.

Given this, the Inai ordered a search for information in all its competent administrative units.

The resolution comes after protests because López Obrador has not fulfilled his campaign promise to resolve the disappearance of the 43 Ayotzinapa students, although the Truth Commission created by him concluded in 2022 that it was a “state crime” in which he also The Army participated.
