In India, a sudden flood-ground death –

In the northeast of India, at least five people have died in a sudden flood and landslide after raining in the past two days. Local officials confirmed the information, a news agency AFP report said.

Disaster management officials in the state said that eight people died in Assam and nine in Arunachal Pradesh. Many of them died due to landslides.

State authorities said five more people were killed in a landslide in the neighboring state of Mizoram. Officials said six people were killed in Meghalaya and at least two in Nagaland and Tripura states.

Red alert has been issued in several districts of the area after continuous rainfall for the past three days.
Due to heavy rains, several rivers, including the Brahmaputra, have increased. The Brahmaputra river originates from the Himalayan Mountains and flows to Bangladesh through the northeast of India.

The Indian Army has said they have rescued hundreds of people through a ‘widespread rescue operation’ across the state of Manipur.

In the meantime, the people have been evacuated to a safe place, the army said. Food, water and necessary drugs have been provided in various places.

In a statement, Chief Minister of the state of Meghalaya Conrad K Sangma ordered the landslide -prone and the officials to take high alerts in the lowlands. Every year in various parts of India, many people die due to sudden floods and landslides during the monsoon.
